Pebbles are my way of expressing the human condition: all the same and yet all different, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, individual charisma and flaws. When I decided to create vessels to hold such humble and yet highly meaningful objects, I wanted to find a material that was like “gold” without being actual gold, and the organic hemp yarn from Canadian company Rawganique is one of the most ethically strong products I have ever come across.
Nothing and no-one has to be gold to be “gold”.
Crocheted vessel of ethically-produced, organic, undyed hemp yarn (from ethical company Rawganique), containing a humble pebble. Stainless steel pin.
The nature of the materials and the making process mean that every My Kinda Gold piece is unique. The pin is threaded into the stitches so the vessel can be removed and reattached to the pin at a different angle. The pin itself can also be worn at different angles. Can also be worn as a pendant.
Measurements: vessel 4.8 x 3.6 x 3 cm; pin length 7.8 cm.
